Benefits Of Mud Masks

Most of us wear our stress on our face and it feels oh so good to erase that stress and put our best face forward.

Mud masks are well known for their antibacterial and exfoliating benefits. They can improve blood circulation and they moisturize the skin to make it appear brighter, softer and clearer. In many cases, mud masks also tighten the skin to reduce the size of pores. The recommended number of times you should use a mud mask is three times a week for 15 minute intervals.

As ancient oceans have crystallized over the years, the outer crust of the Himalayan mountains have turned into nourishing salt mud. This mask has been refined to cleanse and replenish the skin. It draws out impurities from beneath the skin which can help unclog pores in order to reduce acne.

Speaking Of Mud...

An Essential Treat

You can’t have a mud mask without some mug cake! Treat yourself with this low fat chocolate mug cake recipe. It only takes 2 minutes to make so you can pass time by prepping it while your mask is on.

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp self raising flower
  • 1 tbsp sugar (Stevia, white sugar, coconut sugar…)
  • 2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp butter or coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp milk (almond, skim, oat…)
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 tbsp mini chocolate chips
Steps:
  1. Spray a mug of choice with cooking oil.
  2. Add the flour, sweetener, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt to a bowl.
  3. Whisk to combine all dry ingredients.
  4. Add melted butter, milk and vanilla.
  5. Whisk again while folding in half a tablespoon of chocolate chips.
  6. Top the mug with the remaining chocolate chips.
  7. Microwave for 40 seconds on high.
