Variscite is an aluminum phosphate mineral, first described in 1837 and named after Variscia, Germany. While it is often confused with turquoise, variscite is usually greener in colour. It occurs as fine-grained masses in crusts, nodules and cavity fillings. This secondary mineral forms when phosphate-bearing water reacts with aluminium-rich rocks near to the surface of the earth. Variscite often contains white veins of crandallite.

It is known for its soothing and clarifying properties, as well as the ability to align and balance the light and physical bodies. This stone of prosperity is said to help one find financial stability while avoiding excess.
