This manganese carbonate mineral from the calcite group forms in hydrothermal veins associated with silver, copper and lead sulfides. It commonly ranges in colour from light pink to bright red. The name rhodochrosite originates from Greek rhodon (rose) and chroma (colour).

Known as the stone of love and balance as it is said to allow the full expression of love by calming excessive passions. Rhodochrosite is used to energize the base, sacral and heart chakras.
