The mineral azurite, a basic carbonate of copper, is used as a decorative stone and has a blue pigment. It is often associated with the more abundant green copper carbonate: malachite. Azurite occurs in copper deposits, found with malachite in Zaire and also Arizona and Utah.

It is said to be a stone of transformation and healing, assisting ones spiritual journey. This mineral is used to illuminate the dark recesses of the sub-concious mind. It is often used for work on the third eye chakra.
